Heater Valve Repair Quick and Dirty

If you have tried to fix or replace your leaky heater valve on your BMW 2002 as described in previous Roundels (October 1978, p. 14), but found that:

a) it still leaks,
b) you couldn’t get the screws out, or
c) you don’t have the time, try this.

Dry the valve thoroughly first (hair dryers work well) and apply something like General Electric’s 103 RTV black adhesive sealant. It seems to be stickier than the regular silicone muck. So far it’s held.
