I installed a Porsche 911 battery in my 1971 2002tii, instead of the OEM Varta that the BMW dealer wanted $145 for. It cost $36 at a local battery outlet. [It] is two amp/hr smaller but works fine. It will be necessary to make a new holddown bracket.
