BMW 2002 Speedometer Failure
Recently I found a #1 cause for 2002 speedometer failures. A plastic gear mounted on a metal worm drive fails because of its construction. The gear, part#1-1204827, can be obtained from North Hollywood Speedometer & Clock Co, 6111 Lankershim Bl, North Hollywood CA 91 606.
The price is 64¢, but postage and handling charges amount to $4.40.

Tech Editor's Note: Water can get into the speedometer cable housing and cause problems, too. Drain by removing the cable at the transmission end and draining once a year.
