I put a Starla exhaust system on my 1973 BMW 2002tii and the car developed an exhaust resonance between 3800 and 4300 rpm and later at around 3200 rpm.The Starla was the suspect, since its muffler was a poor fit…. Many people have had excellent results from the BMW OEM systems, made by either Eberspacher or by Leistritz.

Foreign matter becomes lodged in the idle jet.To solve it, I remove the air cleaner and the solenoid switch/valve at the jet, insert a basketball inflating needle on the end of a bicycle pump and blow out the orifice…. When you’ve been talked into using your BMW 2002 for a moving van, a word of caution.If the gas tank has ever been removed from the car, it’s possible that the fuel pickup lines have not been routed correctly.
