The J. C. Penny Co. maintenance-free battery (manufactured by Gould, Inc.) model MF-22F requires no bracket modification, furnishes an 85 amp/hr. rating (vs. 44 amp/hr. OEM), and carries a replacement guarantee for the life of your car's ownership. The price, with trade-in, is $49.

Cold climate BMW owners note: the MF-22F cold cranking specification is 420 @ 0°F and rates a 102 minute reserve. The October Roundel's Battery Battle Charges Up article and my battery's expiration luckily coincided.
